      Mr. Josef Umenberger is the Executive Chef  in charge Food &Beverage for The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta, heading a team of Chefs ,Service Brigade and Stewards .

      He oversees food and beverage operation  for all signature food outlets, Room service , and the Banquets in this City Resort.

      Mr. Umenberger joined The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta in September 2013 as Executive Chef  in charge Food &Beverage. His last assignment was for InterContinental Regency Bahrain ,Kingdom of Bahrain where he oversaw the Hotels signature restaurants, and banquets for up to 800 guests.

      He is no stranger to the Indonesia  then he was overseeing as Area Executive Chef the operation of Banyan Tree  and Angsana Bintan at Bintan Island,Riau Province.

      Mr Umenberger graduated from Berufschule II Gmunden, a Vocational Chef’s school in Austria in 1984. He started off his career at Hotel Donauschlinge in Austria in 1981 as an Apprentice Chef in the tender age of 15 years.  He built his expereince in hotels and cruise lines around the world such as Royal Viking Line in 1988, Frankfurt Marriott Hotel in Germany in 1993, J.W. Marriott Hotel, Mexico City in 1996, Hyatt Hotels Baku in Azerbaijan in 2000, J.W. Marriott Caracas in 2002, Towers Rotana Hotel ,Sheikh Zayed Road. U.A.E. in 2003 ,Makati Shangri-la Hotel , Manila in 2005 and Royale Hayat Hospital (managed by Banyan Tree Hotels & Resort) in Kuwait in 2006, Banyan Tree Al Areen & Spa , Kingdom of Bahrain in 2008 to name some highlights in his career.

      An Austrian native, Mr. Umenberger speaks German, English and Spanish. He has a love affair with the South East Asia and Latin American culture and is inspired by their cuisine.  He is married with a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and traveling.
